Hydrogen, as an Ion, should have positive charge. That keeps distracting me from enjoying the comic fully.

Paige & Dann,

First off, the two of you have a great little podcast going.
Considering you've done 8 episodes already, I'm a bit tardy with my feedback, but
here goes. I must admit the first few shows were good, but a bit tentative. Paige, you
didn't seem like you were completely there voluntarily, although I'm sure we can attribute that to getting your feet wet with podcasting in general. Still, the episodes were fun and I actually learned a thing or two about Gimp myself.

And then episode 6 arrived - WOW. From that moment on it was as if the butterfly
emerged from the cocoon. Paige's presence, conviction and podcasting presence really came to the forefront with and continuing after that episode. It was a pleasure to hear.

You two keep up the good work - looking forward to the next cast.

Take care

The main reason to safe in the xcf format in The Gimp is to preserve the layers. If you have not used layers yet, do check it out!! Once you get used to them, you can not live without them.
For the drawings of the figurines, you could use the same body, but have different clothes on different layers. Switching the layers' visibility on and off can give here different clothes without having to start from scratch time and time again.
Go give her a whole wardrobe! ;-)

Page,

If you are still running mint 12, have you tried the MATE desktop. It is a gnome 2 fork that is available on mint. I haven't used it yet but you might be able customize your desktop to resemble Ubuntu 10.10 with the panels on top rather than on the bottom.
Awesome Podcast BTW.

Hi guys,
I don't know if you know about the Mate Desktop Environment, but it strikes me as being exactly what Paige is after. It actually comes on the Mint 12 DVD so would be an easy install on the system you have already.

Great show, keep up the good work.

(I'm behind in my listening, but I'll catch up.)

This was a good ep. It was interesting to hear people's reactions to Paige's preference for Linux. People are strange -- especially their arguments about it being some sort of cheat or theft.

Other arguments are not quite so easy to dismiss though. You guys spent the first hour of the show talking about stuff that didn't work correctly (the Ubuntu upgrade, "Battle For Wesnoth", etc.); avowed Windows users would hardly be convinced that Linux is a viable alternative from that.

Now I NOT saying that you shouldn't talk about the bad stuff that happens with Linux -- I mean, that's the only way it ever gets fixed -- but, personally, I've come to believe that Linux just isn't the right choice for everyone. And I know that that wasn't your argument either, but, too often we hear Linux evangelists (who are just salespeople by any other name, and easily the worst members of our community) make sweeping statements to that effect.

Anyway, on to the next episode. Good work, you two!
